"Treason's Harbour"

From the cover of the 9th novel in the Aubrey/Maturin series, this supremely atmospheric print shows HMS Surprise lying at anchor in Grand Harbour, Malta. While a Marine stands guard on deck, officers are rowed out in a cutter, lit by a lantern in the stern.

A Genoese barque is being towed across the harbour and, in the background on the right a British 74-gun warship is seen.

One of the most atmospheric of all the Aubrey/Maturin cover pictures.
